Narendra Modi takes on 'akashvani' Rahul Gandhi
Modi said at a rally in Jharkhand capital Ranchi that instead of taking responsibility for the things which went wrong under the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) rule in the last ten years, party vice- president Rahul Gandhi, who had begun to voice dissent on a number of issues, was playing the role of an “akashvani” (an angelic voice in the sky).
“In ancient times, people heard akashvani that came as if they (voices) were not concerned about the happenings around....Today, there is akashvani that CMs will do this, CMs will do that." Gandhi, at a meeting with chief ministers of Congress- ruled states on Friday, had asked them to check prices. He had also disapproved the Maharashtra government’s rejection of the probe report on the Adarsh housing scam.
Although Modi did not name Gandhi, he referred several times to an “akashvani” that was running away from “responsibility” and hiding from the mess of corruption, inflation, unemployment, industrial crisis and growing poverty due to UPA’s wrong policies. “Such people are seeking to appear now, as if they are part of the solution. Those who created this mess and betrayed the people can never solve it because they lack conviction or resolve.”
Modi did not touch upon the Gujarat verdict, but said the people were tired of caste-ism and communalism played by political parties and looked forward to a decent form of governance that would fulfil their basic aspirations. BJP president Rajnath Singh, however, paid compliments to the Gujarat chief minister for having come out victoriously from “attempts” to enmesh him in 2002 riots cases.
“You (the Congress) may hatch many new conspiracies like snooping and by ordering an inquiry... but nothing will come out of it. Modi will come out clear and take over the reins of this country like Ram did after 14 years of exile.” The Union cabinet has formed an inquiry commission to probe allegations of snooping on a woman allegedly carried out at the behest of former Gujarat home minister Amit Shah, a Modi aide. Singh added “the BJP must get enough seats and Jharkhand must deliver all 14 seats” to make the people’s wishes to see Modi as the future PM come true. “Don’t even look at our candidates. Just look at Modi and see what he can do and vote BJP,” he said.
Focusing on BJP’s target to win all the seats in Jharkhand, eight of which are held by the party now, Modi too said the state, which has seen political instability and corruption, had a bright future if its residents made the right choice in 2014. “They (political opponents) ask me what my vision for the country is. My answer is that solution for Jharkhand lies not in the way you have turned it into a quagmire of poverty,” Modi said.
Baba Ramdev to go on door- to-door campaign for Narendra Modi
Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Saturday said he will organize a door-to-door campaign—Vote for Modi—in the run up to the 2014 polls.
Ramdev, who was speaking at the Press Club, came down heavily on the Nehru family and the Congress. "Corruption exists in all parties. But politicians like Modi, Mamata Banerjee and Naveen Patnaik are not corrupt. The difference between the Congress and the BJP is that even the top leaders of the former are corrupt," he said.
Referring to Rahul Gandhi as a 'baccha', he said Modi is like the Himalayas and Rahul is too small. "Rahul has become a zero from hero. He hasn't done anything in the past 10 years, what will he do now," he said.
He said he hopes to get answers from Modi on January 5 regarding problems faced by the common man in the fields of agriculture, education and health.
The yoga guru didn't even spare the new Delhi chief minister. "Arvind Kejriwal made three mistakes. He didn't stick to his promise of neither lending nor taking support from any party. He went on to take support from the Congress . He also passed comments against Anna Hazare," said Ramdev. "The day they file an FIR against Sheila Dikshit, the support will end," he said.
Baba said he doesn't believe that the Aam Aadmi Party can replicate its success in other states. "AAP can cause side effects but can't have a big impact," he said, assuring people that he will never enter active politics but only support politics that ensures a good democracy.
For Modi’s Kolkata rally, online booking of seats, entry fee
A majority of people will have to pay up to get a glimpse of BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi during a public rally at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata on February 5.
Those looking forward to be seated closest to the platform from where Modi will address the rally, will have to get their seats booked online. The bookings will open January 3 —- the day the state
party leadership will decide on the amount of fee for the seats.
“We will earmark seats for the young people and will exhort them to book
their seats. We are targeting people in the age group of 18 to 25. The rally will attract lakhs of people,” Rahul Sinha, state BJP chief, told.
The BJP had put an entry fee to attend a Modi rally for the first time at a public meeting in Hyderabad some months back. It is also planning to charge Rs
5 from those intending to attend Modi’s Goa rally on January 12.
In Kolkata, the party has already begun preparing for the rally. “We have planned 100 rallies and street meetings in the state in January to prepare for Modi’s rally. We have a target of bringing in at least 1 lakh people,” Shamik Bhattacharya, party state general secretary, said.
'The NaMo Store' opens, to sell merchandise inspired by Narendra Modi online
A new online store dubbed 'The NaMo Store' is now selling merchandise inspired by Narendra Modi, the BJP's prime ministerial candidate. The NaMo Store includes products like T-shirts; stationary material including desk organisers (paperweight, reminder pad, pen-stand and notebooks), and pen-drives. According to Live Mint, there are plans to launch physical stores in major cities and that the first brick and mortar store would be in Ahmedabad.
Live Mint cites a team member of the online store, who said, "The NaMo Store will also be launching their own retail stores across different cities in India for wider reach in near future. The stores will be opening in major cities in India."
The online store is from Take India Beyond Merchandising Pvt. Ltd. which describes itself as a "merchandising brand that goes beyond mere profits". Notably, the T-shirts available on The NaMo Store sport slogans, logos and images of Narendra Modi.
In November, a Narendra Modi-inspired game, Modi Run was launched on Android for free. The gameplay of Modi Run is based on the classic Mario series, not the Temple Run series as indicated by the name; here Modi's character is seen beating obstacles and collecting diamonds at various stages. Interestingly, the developer has named the stages after Indian states.
We have also seen Narendra Modi-inspired smartphones that were launched in September this year. On Wednesday, the Congress party announced that it would create a 'cyber-army' to combat BJP's onslaught on social media. Senior Congress leader, Ahmed Patel confirmed the news, saying, "We will be creating our cyber army to counter the BJP's onslaught on social media which has become important in the run-up to the 2014 general elections."
Clean chit to Modi, court rejects Zakia Jafri's plea
In big relief to Narendra Modi, metropolitan magistrate BJ Ganatra rejected Zakia Jafri's protest petition against the Supreme Court- appointed SIT's clean chit to Narendra Modi and 57 others in a 2002 Gujarat riots case. The magistrate had earlier fixed October 28 and then December 2 for pronouncement of verdict on Zakia Jafri's petition against the clean chit to Modi and 57 others which included top BJP leaders and police officers.
Since the judge could not complete the order, he posted it for Thursday. Zakia's husband, former Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, was killed in the riots along with 69 others in one of the worst massacres at Gulbarg Society in Ahmedabad on February 28, 2002.
Proceedings in the matter ended on September 30. The court has got more than 25,000 pages of the SIT's probe report for perusal. Further, Zakia Jafri had filed a voluminous protest petition and written replies. The SIT too has filed a written reply as rejoinder. It was on September 12, 2011 that the Supreme Court had said it would no longer monitor the case after the SIT cleared Modi of the accusation that he had failed to discharge his constitutional duty to intervene swiftly to stop communal riots.
The case was sent back to the lower court. Modi had immediately tweeted, "God is great," and announced the three-day Sadbhavana fast to embrace Muslims. The fast, started on his 61st birthday on September 17, 2011 had launched his campaign to become BJP's prime ministerial candidate. The SIT claimed that it could not find any prosecutable evidence against the accused persons regarding their involvement in the alleged conspiracy behind the riots. It had even refused to treat IPS officers like RB Sreekumar, Rahul Sharma and Sanjiv Bhatt as witnesses on the ground that their statements are hearsay evidence.
On the other hand, Zakia has alleged that the SIT has been shielding Modi and others by not believing statements given by these police officers and neglecting the available evidence.
Zakia has accused the SIT of playing the role of a court by adjudging the truth of the available evidence. Her lawyers contended that the investigation was incomplete and the probe agency had not even done it seriously. On the opinion of amicus curiae Raju Ramachandran that Modi may be prosecuted for inciting communal hatred, the SIT has said that there is no evidence to prosecute him, and the incident alleged was beyond the ambit of its probe.
In 2006, Zakia had filed a complaint about the role allegedly played by Modi and 62 others during the 2002 riots. When Gujarat police did not register her complaint, she moved the Gujarat high court which asked her to approach a magisterial court. She chose to move the apex court.
The SC asked the SIT to look into the issue. When the probe team came up with a report, the SC asked it to tender it before the concerned magisterial court. Accordingly, it filed a closure report against all the accused persons on February 8 last year.
BJP coins new slogan: one vote, one note
Declaring that it will get an outright majority of its own, Congress's principal challenger on Tuesday announced an ambitious outreach programme which will extend down to the booth level.
"BJP will reach out to 10 crore families for donations that could be anything from Rs 10 to 1000, in the name of Modi for PM," party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters after a meeting of party's PM candidate Narendra Modi, chief ministers and senior leaders.
Coming just after its effective use by AAP, the plan for a door-to-door food collection naturally attracted suggestions that party was mimicking Kejriwal. However, party functionaries denied having been influenced by AAP. "We have been doing so since the days of Jan Sangh. We have a regular mechanism for raising funds from workers", said Sudhanshu Trivedi, one of the spokespersons of the party.
Sources said that "one vote, one note" campaign has been devised on the assumption that each person contributing to party's coffer will acquire a stake in its success.
Modi and other leaders who were meeting against the backdrop of its success at Congress's expense in the just-held assembly polls, drastically raised its target for the 2014 parliamentary elections, setting a target of 272-plus seats on its own.
Modi told his colleagues that an outright majority was a doable task, pointing out the difference between BJP and its main rival Congress boiled down to just 89 lakh votes in the last Lok Sabha and that the gap could be overcome by reaching out to new voters and because people were seeing BJP with its better model of governance as a superior alternative to Congress.
Party's PM candidate said that with 12 crore new voters having been added to the voter's list as compared to 2009,, BJP can not just overtake Congress's score of 206 seats in 209, but secure outright majority on its own.
Modi said BJP may have scored way down in the 2009 tally as compared to Congress, but in a good number good number of seats the party had finished second. So if the party is able to sell its "good governance and leadership" (read Modi as PM) planks properly to the electorate, BJP should be able to achieve its target of 272-plus.
The party hopes Modi's appeal will drive people to donate for it as it readies to fight the polls with the "good governance and Modi for PM' slogan. It ties in with party chief Rajnath Singh's emphasis for setting up and motivating the booth-level committees
The strategy to make voters stake-holders was started by Modi during his public rallies with the first experiment taking palce in Hyderabad.
In its preparation for the 2014 Lok sabah polls, BJP on Tuesday decided to dedicate the next 60 days in preparation and the following 60 days for campaigning with 120 days left for the poll process to begin.
The review of election results by Modi, Rajnath and other leaders saw chief of Delhi unit Vijay Goel saying that while party committed the mistake of under-estimating the AAP phenomenon in Delhi, it should not seek to compensate for that by over-estimating the appeal of the greenhorn outfit.
The party will not only working on a manifesto for the polls, but also a chargesheet against the Congress to bring out the "dark decade of Congress rule" or Congress ka kala dashak." The party will also prepare a vision document for the future to present to the voters.
BJP plans to make Narendra Modi's rally biggest in Mumbai
Maharashtra BJP plans to make Narendra Modi's Sunday rally in Mumbai the biggest political gathering in the city. Its city and state units have been working overtime for the last two weeks to make its PM candidate's 'Mahagarjana Rally' at the Metropolitan Region Development Authority grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex a grand success.
"We will ensure that this will be the biggest political rally that Mumbai has seen. I don't want to quote any numbers but lakhs will attend this rally and it will be a grand success. Special focus will be on youth of Mumbai and Maharashtra," BJP state spokesperson Madhav Bhandari told.
"Various sections of the society have been given invitations in groups. Thousands of doctors have been called to attend the rally, thousands of lawyers have been called and thousands of small and medium businessmen have been asked to be there. We know that our leader Narendra Modiji used to be a tea vendor at a railway station before he entered politics. So as a symbolic gesture, we have asked 10,000 tea vendors from various parts of Mumbai and Thane to attend this rally, these are all special invitees", Bhandari said.
"People from other parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat will also come to hear Narendra Modi . We expect thousands of vehicles to enter Mumbai this Sunday from outside the city. But we are working on making it smooth," said former BJP MLA Atul Shah.
Another BJP leader told that the party has decided to create a special section in the front rows for foreign diplomats and staff of various consulates at the MMRDA grounds so that diplomats who choose to come can get the sense of Modi's popularity in Mumbai.
The rally is scheduled to start at noon. This is the first time that Modi will be speaking with the audience in Mumbai after the recent assembly poll results gave a thumbs up to BJP. The party cadre in Mumbai and rest of Maharashtra are upbeat about the rally.
Mumbai Police is taking special precautions for this rally. Security will be multi-layer and most people attending the rally will have to cross metal detectors and other checks. People on the outer periphery of the ground will be subjected to random checks. Since it's a Sunday, police will not have to alter traffic arrangements in the area but the road from Airport to MMRDA grounds in BKC will see some regulation of traffic.
Narendra Modi addresses Vijay Shankhnaad Rally in Varanasi
Narendra Modi addressed the Vijay Shankhnaad Rally in Varanasi. Here are some highlights:
- People of India are eager to uproot the government in Delhi.
- The 2014 election will be fought by people, not by parties and the leadership won't be of one person.
- It is impossible to talk about India without talking about the Ganga.
- For others Ganga can be a river, but for us it is our mother, not just a river.
- Ganga is not mere a flow of water, but it depicts our culture.
- The UPA govt made a scheme to clean the Ganga.
- A lot of campaigning was done and people thought something will be done.
- But in the last five years no step was taken by the Centre except holding three meetings.
- People of India want answers have you (UPA) done to clean the Ganga.
- Should those fooling the nation in the name of Ganga form the government again?
- Those who could not manage the Ganga, how can they manage the nation?
- To purify the Ganga we have to make Delhi and Lucknow pure first.
- Those protecting the Congress day and night keep asking me: 'what will you do'. - I don't just speak, it make it happen.
- I invite those who ask me all these questions: 'come to Gujarat, see the Sabarmati River today'.
- If the Sabarmati can change Gujarat's life, can't the Ganga change India's life?
- We are not here with mere promises, but with strong will.
- It is said without Uttar Pradesh no government can be formed.
- This thought is an insult to Uttar Pradesh. Is the state just about increasing numbers in Parliament?
- Is Uttar Pradesh only about making governments? I don't have such a narrow thinking.
- If India wants stability, it is not possible without Uttar Pradesh.
- India's development cannot happen without the development of Uttar Pradesh.
- Do not link Uttar Pradesh merely to the number of MPs.
- This land can become Bharat Bhagya Vidhata. It can be the engine of development.
- For us Uttar Pradesh is not a political playground, but the most important land for India's development.
- It is people for this land that once dreamt of Ram Rajya.
- If people are not skilled, how would Ram Rajya be possible?
- Farmers of this land can fill stomachs of so many people, but see the government you have.
- A farmer who has the ability to fill stomachs of others is unable to fill his own stomach.
- How does the farmer feel to know that grains are rotting? It is not just economic loss, it touches the heart of the farmer.
- Supreme Court says give grains to the poor, but government lets it rot and doesn't give it to the poor.
- The rotten grains are given to liquor manufacturers. Won't this make a farmer sad?
- What the government is doing is insult to the farmers and a joke on the poor.
- When elections come, they keep talking about the poor.
- If there is someone responsible for poverty, it is one family that has kept the nation in poverty.
- I have spent my childhood in poverty. I don't need to go to houses of poor to see what poverty is. They (the Gandhis) have hatred for the poor.
- One UPA leader calls me tea-seller. Is it a crime to stand on one's own feet and make ends meet?
- If people bless someone then anybody can become the prime minister, irrespective of what he or she does.
- Selling tea is acceptable to us, but not the country.
- I tell the poor, uproot all those people who have exploited you.
- Congress leaders say we are thieves. Yes, we are thieves, we have stolen the sleep of the Congress.
- A few days ago a Muslim from here wrote to me. He said 'I have to share a problem with you'.
- When one has to apply for a job the first thing that comes to mind is 'sifarish', but in Gujarat we have done it through technology and transparency.
- Why is it that even the most educated person does not survive on certificates, but on sifarish? Youth need dignity.
- My young friends, I am coming with a guarantee of your future. If we cannot guarantee the future of our youth then nothing can be done.
- People are uprooting the Congress in states and electing BJP governments.
Narendra Modi to visit temples in Varanasi after rally
Narendra Modi plans to visit Lord Vishwanath and Sankatmochan temples in Varanasi after the rally on December 20.
It is said politics is all about the message a party or leader sends across and Modi's decision to visit the two temples is a pointer. The spotlight on Modi's aide Amit Shah's visit to temples in Ayodhya has shifted to Modi's plan to visit Varanasi temples.
Modi will arrive at Varanasi to address 'Vijay Shankhnaad Rally' on December 20 at around 12.30 pm and address the gathering, expected to be the biggest of the four rallies held so far, said media co-in charge Manish Dixit.
Modi plans to visit Vishwanath temple first after the rally gets over between 3 and 3.30 pm, sources said and added that he will next offer prayers at Sankatmochan temple before leaving from Gujarat from Varanasi.
Senior BJP leaders said not much should be read in Modi's plan to visit the two ancient temples. So far, Modi has addressed four rallies in the state beginning his UP leg of campaigning in the run-up to Lok Sabha election from Kanpur on October 19. This was followed by rallies at Jhansi on October 25, Bahraich on November 8 and Agra on November 21.
Varanasi rally is also being seen by political observers as important in that it will be the first big show of the BJP in the state after its thundering success in assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattishgarh and in Delhi where the party stood four votes short of attaining majority.
The temple town Varanasi has been the ideological nerve centre for Rashtriya Swayemsewak Sangh as have been Ayodhya and Mathura. Though Modi's last rally was in Agra, the neighbouring district of Mathura, the BJP's PM hopeful didn't talk about Mathura's Lord Krishna temple. Not only this, the state BJP felicitated its two Muzaffarangar riots accused MLAs at the Agra rally but before Modi arrived at the rally ground.
According to political observers, Modi has deliberately been making efforts not to be seen as the party's Hindu face mainly because the Godhra ghost had been haunting him for a decade now and he had been making concerted efforts to present himself as role model of development mentioning the Gujarat model of development in his speeches in UP. In the wake of the Lok Sabha election, Modi seems to be making every effort to become a major factor if there are any doubts after success in the assembly elections, political observers believe.
Represented by former national BJP chief and veteran party leader Dr Murli Manohar Joshi, Varanasi is an important city of eastern UP area an any message sent across from there will go a long way.
UDF Chief Whip P C George promotes Modi at a BJP function in Kottayam
Imagine congress led united Democratic Front's Chief whip in Kerala assembly wearing a Saffron Shawl and flagging of BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's "Run for Unity" marathon organised by BJP.
This at a time when Congress was defeated by BJP in assembly elections and the later is preparing for a bigger victory in Loksabha elections. But Chief Whip of Kerala assembly P C George is not at all remorseful about this magnanimous gesture he had on Sunday in Kottayam in Kerala. George, Vice president of Kerala Congress (M) said that he doesn't find anything wrong in participating in a function organized by BJP. "The marathon was conducted on Sardar Patel's death anniversary day in order to raise fund for building his statue. BJP leaders invited me to flag off the run and I readily agreed to do so as I admire Patel. I have immense respect for Sardar Vallabhai Patel," says George.
Though function was held as a part of mobilization for building a 182 metre statue of Sardar Patel in Narmada river in Gujarat, it is widely seen as move by the Gujarat Chief minister Narendra Modi to promote himself as part of his upcoming election campaign. To the horror of UDF leaders, George was also seen distributing Saffron T-shirts with Narendra Modi's picture embedded in it to the runners.
He waved the t-shirt in full view of the channel cameramen presented at the function. State Congress leaders have expressed shock over the incident and called for immediate removal of George from Chief Whip post.
"This is something congress can't tolerate. P C George was ridiculing congress for quite sometime now and he openly participated in a function organized by opponent BJP. There should not be any compromise this time in the case of George," said former KPCC president K Muraleedharan. "This is unacceptable. George should go," exhorted congress MLA T N Prathapan. Kerala Congress (M) Chairman and finance minister of Kerala, K M Mani said that he will discuss the topic within the party and will take appropriate action against George.
"George's act is deplorable," says KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala. "George had crossed all limits now. He should not be allowed to continue as chief whip," said Congress spokesperson Panthalam Sudhakaran.
This is not the first time George is creating troubles for UDF. P C George was emerged as a headache for Chandy government for sometime now. His harsh criticism of fellow ministers and members of the ruling front was irritating the UDF for the past year and a half. His remarks on Congress ministers and others within the party had even provoked KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala to openly declare that the party won't tolerate his foul-speak and will deal with him if he continues to attack Congress leaders. George had even written a letter against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to Congress president Sonia Gandhi that he had evidences in his hand to prove the role of Omman Chandy in the solar scam in August 14, 2013.
George's acceptance of BJP's invitation to inaugurate the marathon in Kottayam is also seen as Kerala Congress (M)'s strategy to get BJP votes to their candidate Jose K Mani in Kottayam constituency. "Kerala Congress (M) think that Jose K Mani won't win unless he get BJP votes from the constituency.
P C George might have attended the function BJP with the blessings of Kerala Congress (M) Chairman K M Mani as he wanted his son to become MP again," says an insider. It is a known fact that Kerala Congress (M) was always lenient towards BJP and never opposed them severely even in the past.
With George's endorsement of BJP campaign for Modi, Congress leaders in the state are embarrassed as BJP will use it judiciously just as in past too. Earlier Congress MLA A P AbdullaKutty and state labour minister Shibu Baby John were landed in trouble for praising the developmental activities of Narendra Modi in Gujarat. Former Supreme Court Judge and the minister of first left government in Kerala, Justice V R Krishna Iyer also landed in trouble for showering praises on Modi.

Narendra Modi beats Sachin Tendulkar, Mars Mission on Facebook
BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is the most talked about person on Facebook in India beating likes of cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar and Apple iconic device iPhone 5s, the US-based social networking site said on Monday.
According to the social networking giant's top Indian trends of 2013, RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan and India's Mars mission also failed to beat the Gujarat Chief Minister, who was the most mentioned person on Facebook this year.
Facebook, which at present claims to have 1.19 billion monthly active users (MAUs), has 82 million MAUs in India for the quarter ending June 31, 2013. "Take a look at the most mentioned people and events of 2013, which point to some of the most popular topics in India," Facebook said in a statement. This includes Narendra Modi followed by Sachin Tendulkar, iPhone 5s, Raghuram Rajan and Mangalyaan, it added.
Last month, India launched its maiden mission to Mars, which could carry India into a small club of nations, including the US, Europe, and Russia, whose probes have orbited or landed on Mars. Batting mastero Tendulkar also retired last month after playing his 200th-test match. He is also the first sportsperson to be bestowed with India's highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna. "Today, we're taking a look back at the people, moments and places that mattered most on Facebook in India in 2013," the social networking site said.
Conversations happening all over Facebook offer a unique snapshot of India and this year was no different. Every day, people post about topics and milestones important to them from announcing an engagement, to discussing breaking news or even celebrating a favourite political party's victory or love for cricket, it added.
Sukhdev Dabha at Murthal (Haryana) was the most talked about place to visit on Facebook followed by Golden Temple in Amritsar, Bangla Sahib Gurudwar, Connaught Place and India Gate in New Delhi and Taj Mahal in Agra among others.
Raje credits Modi for BJP showing in Rajasthan
With trends indicating a massive win for BJP in Rajasthan, State party president Vasundhara Raje on Sunday said her party’s PM candidate Narendra Modi was a “huge factor” behind its good show. “The people of Rajasthan were tired of non- governance of Congress. It is something that follows from Delhi also. Therefore, Narendra Modi is a very big factor because people have seen what he has done in Gujarat,” Ms. Raje said after her party was leading in more than 145 seats.
She said, “Modi has shown that development happens in Gujarat and he has shown that this is a model that can be followed anywhere”. “The BJP government in most of the states have been able to do this also and that’s what the people of this country want. Therefore, Modi has been a very huge factor. This is also the semi-finals to what is going to happen very shortly,”
Ms. Raje said, expressing confidence that the party would form government at the Centre under the leadership of Mr. Modi. Asked about her priorities, Ms. Raje maintained that it would depend on what the people of her State would want. “We are going to look forward to doing some good work and bring Rajasthan back on its feat again. We will basically strengthen the people of Rajasthan,” she added. She said it was because of the people of Rajasthan and also for the hours of sweat by her party workers that she had achieved such a lead. “I thank the people of Rajasthan… whatever has happened today, I actually give my thanks to the people and dedicate it to them...not only to the people but also to the workers who have sweated for the last ten months for this.
“The victory is dedicated to our party workers who left no stone unturned. Party president Rajnath Singh and our prime ministerial candidate also spared time for campaigning for the party in Rajasthan and I am thankful to them,” she said.
Assembly polls: What will a 4-0 victory mean for Narendra Modi & BJP
The exit polls in the wake of the Delhi assembly election on December 4 have indicated at a 4-0 verdict in favour of the BJP (Mizoram is excluded for it is still to play a decisive role in the national politics). This black-and-white outcome in the semi- finals ahead of the big final next year is significant for not only the BJP but for the national politics as well.
For this would mean that in less than three months since his anointment as the party's prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi has proved his critics wrong and produced a magic that even the previous generation of national leaders found difficult. In the four states that have gone to the polls this season, namely, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, the BJP's best result so far was 3-1 in 2003 when the Congress retained only Delhi. If the 4-0 verdict comes true this time, it will mean a much bigger feat for Modi, compared to even greats like Vajpayee and Advani. It will also signal a perfect ending to the BJP's succession issue. By leading the party to victory in other states (Modi is certain to get a bigger credit over the likes of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Raman Singh or Vasundhara Raje in case the BJP makes a sweep), the Gujarat chief minister will do his mission to emerge a pan-Indian figure a world of good. The elevation outside the party will confirm him as the face of the post-Vajpayee era in the BJP. It was indeed a risk for the saffron party to test Modi in these assembly elections just six months ahead of the great battle but a 4-0 verdict will mean that a risk is worth a reward.
Another development in the post 4-0 period could be the BJP's gain in allies. For those who were wondering about the Modi phenomenon so far since he had mainly been a regional leader and that too a right-wing one, this emphatic victory will erase their doubt to a great degree.
One wouldn't be surprised if the likes of Mamata Banerjee, Jayalalithaa, Naveen Patnaik, YSR Jaganmohan Reddy, Chandrababu Naidu and Raj Thackeray begin to tilt towards the BJP, quickly or gradually, after witnessing the verdict in the four important states.
For leaders like Nitish Kumar, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mayawati and the Left parties, the Congress's humiliation will be terrible blow. For, this would put into jeopardy the plan for a tacit understanding between the 'first' and the 'third' fronts to corner the second front.
For the Congress, this verdict could signal to a bigger problem. This will mean that the succession in the party hasn't paid off and the Jaipur enclave of February looks a distant moment. Rahul Gandhi's acceptability will be under a question even though his party tried to shield its senior leadership in the state polls to protect it from all kinds of adversity. The loss in four states will mean that Gandhi has failed to boost his party in important state elections for three years now. Expecting a rapid turnaround in another six months will be a bit too much.

Inflation not a major issue for Congress: Modi
BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi while addressing an election rally at in New Delhi launched a scathing attack on the Congress saying that the Government has done nothing for the people of this country.
Here are a few highlights of his speech:
1. Narendra Modi shares his happiness about the elections being fought by the people this time in Delhi. He also added that election are festivals of democracy.
2. Giving an example of Chattisgarh where Raman Singh went to people and told them what all work their party did in the State, he insisted that all political parties must give answers to the people and tell them about what they did.
3. He condemned the arrogance of Congress Governments in Delhi and Rajasthan stating that they are reluctant to answer people. He also asked people that when Delhi has such big leaders of the Centre, then why don't they meet the public and talk to them.
4. Modi also said, "It is a fashion now- no matter wherever the elections are taking place in the country, yet the Congress wants answers from Gujarat."
5. Modi further went on reminding people all the abuses behind closed doors and allegations by the Congress to attack his popularity in Gujarat last year. He said that despite these dirty tricks and every effort made by the Congress, the people of Gujarat refused to believe them. He also challenged the Central Government saying, "Do not think you can try these tricks anywhere."
6. He attacked the Congress saying, "People do not trust the Congress anymore because of the sins they have committed and have lost peoples trust."
7. He shared,"There is a group of people who keep asking about his vision." He also posed a question to those people who doubt him, "Have they asked the Congress about their vision?" He said that the reason why they asking this is because they fear that BJP is coming to Delhi. Other reason is that they would want to save Congress.
8. He asked people, "When Morarji Desai formed the Government which was also a coalition Government, did prices rise? Or, the did the prices rise when Atal Bihari Vajpayee formed a Government?" And, then he emphasised that prices had risen when the Congress misrule began.
9. He even asked, "When outsiders come cannot we welcome them? But, Congress do not want to do anything about it." Unleashing the attack on the Government, he said, "Mudda niti ka nahi, niyat ka hai." "One Minister in PMO thinks he has got all the brains in the world and the others are brainless", he added. Criticising the comment made by a Congress representative which said "prices are rising because poor are eating two subzis now", he asked people if the prices are rising due to this.
10. "Our Prime Minister is a big economist. We never comment on that aspect. Finance Minister is also very educated. We never challenge that. But, then, he also didn't hesitate to ask people, "This dream team was appreciated. But have not they not ruined the nation?"
11. Modi also stated, "Neither Narasimha Rao nor Vajpayee were considered economists. But still you could have learnt from them. In fact, both Narasimha Rao and Atal Bihari Vajpayee knew about the problems faced by the common people".
12. Attacking the Congress's economic strategies, Modi asked, "Do you believe that if you earn above Rs 26 you are not poor? The same intelligent Minister said is it Government's job to sell onions?" Modi added, "And then Delhi Chief Minister sells onions".
13."Do you not want your own Chief Minister"?, he asked people. And, said that "Dr Harsh Vardhan has been among them for his entire life and he understands their problems"
14. Modi also attacked the Congress for spreading rumours that electricity is expensive in Gujarat than in Delhi. And, then he rejected this by calling it a lie. He stated, "In Delhi, for even 30 units, one has to pay Rs 3.90 and that is not the case in Gujarat. Above 200 units, the price is Rs 5.80 in Delhi, while in Gujarat it is Rs 4.57". "So, who is giving cheaper power"?, he asked.
"Commercial tariffs are also cheaper in Gujarat. Even take industrial power rates", he said.
15. Then indicating to Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, he said, "You do not have to give power to the.farmers. We give power to farmers at affordable rates too".
16. "Congress is not concerned with governance. For everything, they will keep saying that have made acts. Tomorrow, they may make 'acts' even to breathe and drink water."
17. "In Gujarat, we have initiated the concept of One day governance. Why cannot this concept be replicated in Delhi"? asked Modi.
18. "Common Wealth Games was an opportunity to enhance our brand.Forget stealing money, they lost an opportunity to project Delhi in front of the world," commented Modi.
19. Modi promised that his party promises a good governance and is presenting an honourable person as the Chief Ministerial candidate for Delhi.
Rai Bareli: Rural poor eye Narendra Modi's promise in Gandhi political bastion
If Sonia Gandhi and her Congress party need evidence that their policies of subsidies and safety nets for India's poor may no longer be enough to keep their support, they need look no further than her own constituency of Rai Bareli. In the family borough in the northern heartland, which has been loyal to India's most powerful dynasty from the days of first Prime Minister Jawaharal Nehru, voters want electricity, hospitals and roads, more than the cheap food on offer.
Such a change of heart threatens to upend the Congress party's central calculation to win next year's election: that poor rural voters who make up the backbone of support will stay loyal because of the big welfare programmes it promotes, including a flagship $21 billion food subsidy scheme. Instead, even in such a bastion of Congress support as Rai Bareli district, opposition leader Narendra Modi's message of growth and investment is gaining ground, despite critics' misgivings about his hardline Hindu nationalist roots and a perceived bias against the nation's minority Muslims.
"We don't need subsidised food ... It's a donation and we don't want that charity," said Arjun Rewal, a farmer in the Rai Bareli hamlet of Shivgarh in the centre of India's most populous state of Uttar Pradesh. "We need hospitals with doctors, we need roads, we need electricity supply and we need someone who can tackle inflation," the 52-year-old said, emphasising his point with a stab of his earth-brown finger. Rewal and the farmers with him, who meet one evening a week in the grounds of an old palace, see Modi as the person who can deliver. "In this area, for the first time, people are talking about another political leader and that is Narendra Modi ," he said. Modi has promised quick reforms and an end to a prolonged period of policy paralysis, pointing to the double-digit pace of expansion in the western state of Gujarat that he has governed for three terms.
Uttar Pradesh sends 80 members of parliament to New Delhi, more than any other state. In the last election in 2009, Congress won 21 seats and Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 10. According to a recent opinion poll by AC Nielsen for the Economic Times, the BJP could win 27 seats in Uttar Pradesh in the next election, due by May, with Congress winning just 12.
Rahul Gandhi, Nehru's great grandson, looks likely to lead the Congress into the election, but he was generally seen as lacklustre at state election rallies in Uttar Pradesh in 2012.
EXPECTATIONS
But it is not Rahul Gandhi's oratory that voters in his family's old constituency, first held by Nehru's son-in- law, Feroze Gandhi and now by Rahul's mother, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, are worried about. With inflation outpacing agricultural growth for nearly a decade, many villagers have seen benefits eroded. In addition, demand is rising for pulses, dairy products and vegetables, which are not subsidised.
Sikar knows before rest of country about outcome of elections: Narendra Modi
BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will again woo voters in Ajmer on Thursday. Later in the day, he will deliver speeches in Sikar, Khinsvar and Bhilwara.
On Monday, Modi had launched an attack on Congress while addressing a rally in Khetri, he had said,"How will a government that cant save the rupee, save industries. All round development requires equal attention on all the three sectors- agriculture, industry and the service sector. State government has done nothing for them. Will you bring such government to power again. Let us see what falls first, the rupee or Centres honour."He further accused central government of suffering from policy paralysis.
While citing the works done by his predecessors in the party, he had honoured former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. "It was Atal Bihari Vajpayee who conducted nuclear tests. There were international sanctions, a weak leader would have been scared, but not BJP. Atal ji did not let value of the rupee fall, economy was strong in his rule. But see what is happening today under economist PM," he had said while appealing to uproot the Congress from every corner of Rajasthan and make BJP win in every booth.
He was quick to retaliate to Sonia's 'BJP is poisonous remark' during her Kota rally, assoon as he took to the stage in another rally in Banswara the same day.
He said "Madam's Shehzada once said in Jaipur that his mother told him that power is poison. They ruled the country for almost 50 years since Independence...then who has tasted poison for a longer period...it is Congress...then who else can be more poisonous (than Congress)."
As passing of each day brings close December 1- the D-day for all political parties aiming for a win in Rajasthan assembly polls, Narendra Modi's attack against state and central Congress leadership and his appeal to voters to vote for BJP has assumed a fiercer tone. Rajasthan voters will see yet another sharp pitch by him on Wednesday as they gather in Ajmer to attend his rally.
Omar 'panic stricken' ahead of Modi's Jammu rally: BJP
Due to Narendra Modi's growing
popularity in Jammu and Kashmir , Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is "panicked" ahead of the Gujarat Chief Minister's rally on December 1 here.
"The observations made by the chief minister about Modi's rally to be held here on December 1 are only indications of panic and tension in the mind of the Chief Minister because of Modi's growing popularity in the state," BJP chief spokesman Jitendra Singh said.
Abdullah, while addressing a rally in the city, had said that BJP will open old Pandora's Box in December 1 rally and asserted that PDP, BJP thrive on "wedging apart society".
Packed maidan in Kota sings Modi, Modi
Chants of 'Modi, Modi' reverberated like 'Sachin, Sachin' as the BJP leader took to the podium.
Modi, who could not hold the rally on a bigger venue at Ramlila Maidan on account of security issues, played to the audience standing outside Maidan saying that the ground may not have enough space for them, but they have a bigger place in his heart.
Modi's attempt to make his speech interactive by involving the crowd had a telling impact on the people who would break into raptures every now and then.
While the ground was packed on Saturday when UPA chairpersons Sonia Gandhi addressed the gathering, Modi lived to his reputation of being a bigger crowd puller. There was not even an empty space on the boundary walls of the ground. The balmy evening on Sunday seemed to be winning over the day's harsh sun.
Notwithstanding the security concerns raised by the prime minister, the entry to the ground was lax and no metallic scanner was used and people flowed in without check unlike Sonia Gandhi's rally where a meticulous body scanning was done.
Modi's rally was a much awaited event in the city as many youths in the maidan who were passionate in their support said the BJP leader is a lion and the country needs a strong leader like him to bring order and development to the country.
Before Modi arrived, BJP candidates contesting the assembly elections from Kota including Prahlad Gunjal and Om Birla had worked up the crowd with their forceful speeches and the people seemed to have found the mood when finally Modi came out to speak.
Narendra Modi to address four rallies in Rajasthan today
A week ahead of the state Assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will address four rallies in Rajasthan on Sunday. Modi will be addressing rallies in four parts of the state including Banswara and Chittorgarh areas.
The rallies in Rajsthan comes a day after the Gujarat Chief Minister addressed a rally in Delhi and said that the policies of Congress were only focussed on winning elections and not towards country's development.
He also addressed a rally in Madhya Pradesh and targeted Congress for "doing nothing for poor."
Voting for Assembly Elections in Rajasthan will be conducted on December 1.
Congress didn't want to end poverty as it feared losing power: Narendra Modi
Attacking Congress for "doing nothing for the poor", BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today said the ruling party, over generations, never wanted to educate people and eliminate poverty as it was afraid of being stripped of power.
"Congress knows that the moment masses get educated, their chairs will be in danger," Mr Modi said, addressing a poll meeting in Mandsaur on the last day of campaigning for Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh on November 25. Targeting the Nehru-Gandhi family, he said, 'Why are four generations of a family saying the same thing (on poverty) but doing nothing for the people of the country." Mr Modi alleged that the Congress is "not doing anything for the poor because it knows that if the country gets rid of poverty, they will be out of power." "Whenever elections come, Congress keeps chanting the name of the poor. But they will do nothing (to remove it). If poverty goes, so will their chairs," he remarked. The BJP leader recalled the days of the Emergency and the polls held in 1977 and urged "people to fight the elections". "I can say after touring Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan that people are fighting these elections (this time)," he said.
The Gujarat Chief Minister also heaped praised on his Madhya Pradesh counterpart Shivraj Singh Chouhan for launching a series of developmental programmes in the state. "I won't talk of Gujarat. There are two governments, one in Madhya Pradesh and other Rajasthan. See the difference in their work and then decide for whom to vote," Mr Modi said.
Without naming Congress General Secretary and former chief minister Digvijaya Singh, Mr Modi said ten years ago, a person had done 'Bantaadhar' (made it worse) of the state, but in the last ten years, things had changed. Targeting Congress for its "groupism", Mr Modi said an MP of the region was locked by the warring factions of the party sometime back. He was referring to Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan.
The Gujarat Chief Minister claimed that according to his information, the lock was opened only after Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi intervened.
Narendra Modi to rally in Delhi
The BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will be addressing the residents of west and south Delhi to vote for him and his party at his public rally in Dwarka on Saturday. According to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the rally at DDA Park in Sector 14 at 5 p.m. will cover 10 assembly constituencies of west Delhi and two of south Delhi - Palam and Bijwasan.
"BJP candidates from the 12 constituencies will attend," said a party official. Unlike Mr Modi's earlier extravagant "Vikas Rally" at the Japanese Park in north Delhi's Rohini sub-city Sep 29, the Dwarka rally would be "simple" and incur "minimum expenses".
Mr Modi will also be addressing two more rallies in Delhi -- November 30 and December 1, just days before the December 4 assembly polls. The November 30 rally will be held in East Delhi, New Delhi and Chandni Chowk, while December 1 rally will be held in Ambedkar Nagar in South Delhi.
"The agenda of the rallies would be highlighting party's plans for development of the city while exposing the Congress' misrule of 15 years," said BJP's Delhi unit president Vijay Goel.
Narendra Modi addresses rally in Agra
Narendra Modi addressed Vijay Shankhnad Rally here on Thursday. Security arrangements were beefed up for the occasion with National Security Guard commandos, Special Task Force personnel from Gujarat and over 1,000 state policemen deployed at Kothi Meena Bazar Ground for the rally.
Metal detectors were put up at the entrance gates while parking spaces were set up several kilometres away from the venue.
The security authorities are taking no chances when it comes to Modi's rally in the wake of the serial blasts in Patna on October 27 that killed five persons besides injuring several others.
The Intelligence Bureau has recently cautioned against terror outfits like the Indian Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba widening their networks to carry out deadly attacks in India. This has made the security authorities all the more careful about taking full security measures at the rallies of Modi.
High points of what Modi said at the rally:
1. Tourism business will cross 3 trillion dollars but will Agra gain from this, asked Modi at the rally, saying it won't because of the mindset of the rulers in Delhi.
2. Agra is a major tourism centre. Shouldn't it have an airport. asked Modi.
3. The Centre and the state government blame each other but none do anything.
4. Agra is located near the Yamuna River yet it has a major problem with clean drinking water. He slams the state government for not taking care of what is needed on the ground, Modi said.
5. High time we make value addition to what farmers produce, Modi said.
6. Parties like the BSP and SP have learnt vote-bank politics from the Congress and have added colours to it, he said.
7. Only development as an agenda can put an end to issues like casteism, communalism and dynasty politics, Modi said.
8. The UP govt has not provided basic amenities to the people of Agra, Modi said.
9. Modi slams the SP government over the poor electricity situation in the state.
10. Modi tears into the Congress, SP and BSP.
Can you trust Congress? Narendra Modi in MP rally
Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi addressed a rally here in poll bound Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday and launched a scratching attack on the Congress and lauded Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Addressing the people gathered for his rally, Modi said that he was not in Shandol district for an election visit. “I am not here only to ask for votes, this district is a Tirth Kshetra (religious place) for me,” he said. Sounding poll buggle in Madhya Pradesh, Modi heaped praise for Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and said that the BJP government has worked towards development.
“Shivrajji's government has worked towards every section of the society,” Modi added. Modi also lauded the lauding the phenomenal work of Chouhan in improving maternal heath in the state. “The people of Madhya Pradesh consider Shivrajji as their own and consider him as part of their family.” He also congratulated the MP Chief Minister for giving opportunities to the youth and building medical and engineering colleges. Attacking the Congress, the BJP leader said, “people are angry with the Congress. They want to punish it.” Modi asked the people whether the Congress worked for women and children in the last fifty years.
Praising Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Gujarat Chief Minister said that the former prime minister created a separate ministry and allotted a separate budget for ‘adivasis’. Attacking the Congress on the issue of giving rights to adivasis, Modi told the people that “Congress comes to ask for your votes and talks about poor, marginalised.” “Congress feels by taking name of poor 50 times a day they become compassionate for the poor,” said Modi. Modi said: “In whichever state the BJP is in power it has put on efforts for the development of tribal communities.”
Raising the poll pitch in Madhya Pradesh, the BJP leader asked the people to distance themselves from Congress as the grand old party has broken promise. “Poor do not like to beg or get things for free. They want a life with dignity, they want to work & earn a living, but our Congress friends mock the poor.” “The Congress promised to reduce prices in 100 days. Did that happen,” Modi asked the gathering.
Modi said that whatever promise the Congress is making in Madhya Pradesh, it should first try to implement in statel like Maharashtra, Karnataka which are being governed by it. The crowd shouted a no when Modi asked, “Can you trust Congress promises or the words of their leaders.” The BJP leader also accused the Congress of misleading the people and asked the electorate to never trust the grand old party.
Narendra Modi addresses 3.5 lakh people in Bangalore
Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi addressed around three lakh people at ‘biggest rally’ in Bangalore which toke place at the Palace Grounds.
Around three lakh people had reportedly registered for the rally by paying Rs 10 as entry fee each person.
BJP will donate the amount collected from the rally for the construction of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel statue in Gujarat. Excerpts from his Bangalore speech:
* Bangalore's youth has made the country proud. Apart from Silicon Valley, only Bangalore has some massive IT undertakings.
* The attacks on BJP and Modi have become sharper because they can neither bring about such rallies, nor digest the fact that they cant.
* I have come to this city many times, never has any election campaign visit seen such a huge rally. Like a saffron sea all around.
* For the first time, under Atal Bihari Vajpayee's govt a different IT ministry was created.
* Our youth have done well all over the world, especially in the IT sector. And Bangalore leads the way.
* In 2003 Atalji announced Moon Mission from Red Fort, in 2008 Chandrayan was a success. Mangalyaan was continuation of that S&T policy.
* They (Congress) are cut off from real world, they live in ivory towers, they are indoor players, we are outdoor players.
* UPA wants to get rid of gau-raksha, for vote bank.Just like they got rid of POTA, for vote bank. It gave rise to terrorism & Naxalvaad.
* Instead of giving subsidies to slaughter houses, If incentives had been brought in for software engineers, then the economy wouldn't have deteriorated.
* Congress promised to give jobs to youth but I ask you if they gave you jobs? No. They also rendered our youth jobless.
* We are blessed that we have a vibrant democracy. Our other strength is we are most youthful nation in the world.
* Supreme Court mey kehte hain Koyle kii file kho gayee. Arey file nahii poori sarkar kho gayee. Hindustan ki toh life kho gayi hai.
* UPA is sitting on ivory towers. They are indoor players we are outdoor players.
* The rupee is falling, looks like UPA's rupee is in ICU.
* In 2011 Congress opened the Skill Development Advisory Office. And then, in 2013 they shut it.
* Skill development is important, but our govt has allocated just Rs 1000 cr for it. While Gujarat has allocated Rs 800 cr for it.
* UPA started pink revolution. Export of meat. Because of this, animals being cut up in large numbers.
* The government is trying to suppress the voice of youth on social media.
* They are questioning TV channels in a threatening manner why did you telecast Modi's speech on 15th August.I am just a Chief Minister.
* The government does not respect Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar.
* Great men are far-sighted. But when the system falls in wrong hands, what happens you know very well.
* Our priority is to empower the youth so that India can move forward.
* A few days back, Lata Mangeshkar said that Modi should become PM. UPA said she should be ripped off her Bharat Ratna.
* In democracy do people not have the right to say what they want? Cong doesn't believe in democracy.
* The govt is not running on efficiency, it is running because of CBI.
* Chidambaram said if u spend Rs 15 for water Rs20 for ice cream why not Re 1 for rice. Is this the way to talk about urban middle class.
* Centre is not surviving because they have a majority. It is running due to CBI.
* In Wankhede, people were betting will Sachin score a century or will onion prices reach a century.
* They keep saying power is poison, and pretend to 'protect' people from this 'poison'. This so called poison is only for one family?
* We need to move forward towards clean governance. We need to eradicate stagnancy. I have full faith in the citizens of this country.
* Now chant with me, " Bharat Mata Ki Jai!"
* I thank the 3.5 lakh people who paid Rs10 to come for this rally, it is an honor.
The rally in Karnataka is crucial for the party which is hoping to work the Gujarat Chief Minister magic to bring the party back to power in the state.
Modi inaugurates TCS facility
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday appealed to IT technocrats to work for technological interventions that can change the life of the poor and lead every sector of society towards progress. “Information technology should be used to its maximum potential and common man should be empowered by using technological interventions,” Mr. Modi said after inaugurating the country’s largest software firm’s state-of-the-art 10,000-seat TCS Garmia Park campus in Gandhinagar. “There is a myth that IT is for rich people only. Technological intervention can change the life of poor and more and more technology can be used to upgrade the life of poor people,” Mr. Modi said.
Mr. Modi, also the prime ministerial candidate for BJP, cited the example of his home state, saying computerisation of the PDS system is yielding better service to the poor people. He also mentioned about his ‘Swagat’ online programme in which any person from anywhere in Gujarat can complain to the chief minister regarding the grievances faced by them. “Prime Minister may be able to remove corruption or not, but you can do it,” Mr. Modi told the young IT experts of TCS.
He said the Gujarat check-post at the border with Maharashtra is earning Rs. 400 crore more per year than the one in the neighbouring state despite the fact that same number of vehicles pass through both the check posts. “We have technological supervision of our check-posts and they do not have it. Government sitting in Gandhiangar, can monitor flow of vehicles and tax collected so the collection on our side is high. This is not done by any chief minister but has been made possible by young IT professionals,” Mr. Modi said.
Developed in over 25.5 acres of land with a built-up area of 1.6 million square feet, Garmia park is the latest addition to the company’s global network of software development and delivery centres, he said. “This will go a long way in dispelling the myth that in Gujarat IT industries are not developed,” Mr. Modi said. Tata Group Chairman Cyrus Mistry said “10,000 IT professionals will get jobs at the newly-built TCS Garima Park here”.
He said Tata Group had long standing relationship with Gujarat with presence of various group companies in the state. “TCS has played a pioneering role to make Gujarat an attractive IT destination for global companies and also helped drive technology-led growth by investing in talented youth of the state,” TCS CEO and MD N. Chandrasekaran said. “We are delighted to launch our new world-class campus in Gandhinagar. This will help TCS further scale up its presence and drive the expansion of the IT industry in Gujarat,” he added.
Modi to address three more rallies in Delhi
Three more rallies of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, are lined up in Delhi before the assembly elections.
Delhi election in-charge Nitin Gadkari said Modi had agreed to be in Delhi for three days - November 23, 30 and December 1. “We are working on the venue and other details,” said Gadkari.
Party sources said campaigning in Madhya Pradesh would end on November 23. He is expected to address a meeting in Delhi on the evening itself. The rallies will be targeted at the Aam Aadmi Party. “The thrust will be to bring to light the perspective that AAP is working in tandem with the Congress so that the focus shifts from the poor governance of Congress before the elections,” added another leader.
“Modiji is expected to be in Delhi on November 30, which is a Saturday. He has informed the state unit that he is available for campaigning and he will address meetings wherever they say,” said a senior BJP leader.
Senior leaders said poor governance of the Congress would be the focus of all the rallies. Earlier, senior leaders, including Modi, were supposed to campaign only for a day each. But the party decided to go full guns for the Delhi elections. Modi told the Delhi unit that these elections were crucial keeping in mind the general elections and the mood of the voters was in BJP’s favour.
“On December 1, he will address a public meet after returning from Jammu and Kashmir. The last rally of Narendra Modi elicited tremendous response from the public and we are hoping to repeat the same,” added another leader. BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said a number of other senior leaders would campaign for the Delhi elections. These include LK Advani, Varun Gandhi, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitely, Rajnath Singh, Vinod Khanna.
Modi to hold rally in Agra on November 21
After Bahraich, the BJP has decided to
hold Narendra Modi's rally at Kothi Meena Bazar, Agra on November 21, state BJP chief Laxmikant Bajpayi said. Agra, which falls under Braj region of the BJP, has only one MP Ram Shanker Katheria from Agra (reserved) constituency. Crowd of over 3 Lakh can be expected in Modi's Rally.
The local leaders have been asked to mobilise support for the party's prime ministerial candidate's rally in Agra. Eight districts of Braj Kshetra will be represented in the rally, according to the organising committee's head Purushottam Khandelwal.
Youngsters and techies e-register for Modi rally in Bangalore
The BJP's backroom boys are trying to
get a fix on the profile of the audience at its NaMo rally on Sunday.
The online registration for prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's rally at Bangalore Palace on November 17 shows that techies and youngsters in the age group of 18-40 years are taking the trouble to indicate their presence at the event. The registration on the party's website is meant for those who want to attend but haven't been able to buy the Rs 10 coupons which are mandatory for entry. The form asks for the name of the person, age, gender, occupation, mobile number, residence address as well as assembly and Lok Sabha constituency. While only the date of birth is optional, all other fields in the form have to be mandatorily filled.
The registrant receives an acknowledgement to her email id which has to be shown at the venue entrance to pay Rs 10 on Sunday. "The profile details are helping us get an idea of who is attending the rally. Only those serious will bother to go through the process of registration. This is the beginning and for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, online registration to hear Modi speak may be mandatory,'' party sources said.
According to party spokesperson and MLA S Suresh Kumar, online registration had clocked over 41,000 till Monday evening with most registrants from Bangalore and Mysore.
A party functionary said the online registration idea was conceived after the party BJP started getting emails enquiring about Modi's rally in Bangalore as the dates kept shifting from October to November. Some of those who had registered had started posting screen shots of the
acknowledgement on social media sites. The party has decided to keep registration open till one hour before the rally scheduled to commence at 11am.
